Frequently Asked Questions

How do you use this non-toxic fabric protector spray?

Using this non-toxic fabric protector spray is fairly simple. Start with a clean, dry surface, then shake the bottle well and apply a light, even mist rather than soaking the material. Several light coats are recommended, with each coat allowed to dry to the touch before adding another. The formula is water-based, goes on milky white, and dries clear and smooth without visible residue.

A few extra application tips can help you get better results... As with many fabric care products, it is a good idea to test it on a small, less visible area first before applying it more broadly. It is also best to avoid oversaturating the surface (to avoid a starchy feel), and certain materials may benefit from a little extra care, such as working the product into rugs with a broom or wiping semi-porous materials like leather with a damp  cloth after each coat. For shoppers looking for a non-toxic fabric protector spray that is easy to use and suitable for a wide range of surfaces, this formula offers a practical way to add protection without relying on harsher conventional treatments.

Is this a PFAS-free fabric protector spray?

Yes, this is a PFAS-free fabric protector spray made without forever chemicals. That matters for shoppers who want help protecting fabric surfaces but are trying to avoid the fluorinated compounds often used in conventional stain-resistant sprays. Choosing a PFAS-free option can feel especially important in homes where fabrics are in frequent contact with children, pets, or everyday living spaces. It offers a way to add protection while being more selective about what comes into the home.

This formula is also made without VOCs, hazardous air pollutants, or added fragrance, which adds another layer of reassurance for shoppers focused on low-tox living. At the same time, it is still designed to resist stains and dirt, block fumes from upholstery materials, and help lock in odors. That combination of fabric-care performance and cleaner ingredient standards is a big part of what makes it stand out. For anyone specifically searching for a PFAS-free fabric protector spray, this product is closely aligned with that goal.

Can this natural fabric protector go on couches, rugs, and other fabrics?

Yes, this natural fabric protector is designed for a wide range of household textiles and soft surfaces. It can be used on furniture, carpet, leather, upholstery, curtains, pillows, rugs, mattresses, sofas, baskets, woven materials, table linens, fabric wall décor, and kids’ car seats. That versatility makes it useful for homes that want one fabric-care product that can work across many different rooms and surfaces. It can be especially helpful in high-use areas where spills, dirt, and odors are more likely to happen.

There are still a few use guidelines to keep in mind. This spray is suitable for many household fabrics, but it is not intended for use on wool. It is also smart to begin with a small spot test in a less visible area, especially on delicate or textured materials. Taking that extra step can help you feel more confident before applying it more broadly.

Is this an eco-friendly fabric protector?

This eco-friendly fabric protector is a strong fit for shoppers who want a more thoughtful choice for fabric care. In addition to being PFAS-free, it is also made without VOCs, hazardous air pollutants, or added fragrance. The bottle is recyclable, and the product is made in the USA, which adds to its appeal for customers who care about both ingredient safety and product footprint. These details help position it as a cleaner alternative to many standard fabric protectors.

It is also designed for repeat use on a wide range of surfaces throughout the home, which can make it a practical addition to a lower-tox cleaning and care routine. Instead of buying separate protectors for different spaces, many households could use one product across furniture, rugs, soft décor, and other fabric surfaces. For shoppers searching for an eco-friendly fabric protector that balances performance with a more health-conscious formula, this one offers a compelling option.

Is this a good non-toxic Scotchgard alternative?

Yes, this can work well as a non-toxic Scotchgard alternative for people who want similar stain-protection benefits without forever chemicals. It is made without PFAS and is designed to help protect fabrics from spills, dirt, and everyday messes, which makes it a strong option for anyone moving away from traditional fabric sprays. The formula is also VOC-free and fragrance-free, which may make it more appealing for shoppers who are sensitive to odors or simply prefer lower-tox household products.

Another reason it works well as a swap is its versatility. It can be used on many of the surfaces people commonly want to protect, including upholstery, carpets, rugs, pillows, curtains, mattresses, sofas, and even kids’ car seats. That gives it the same broad household usefulness many shoppers are looking for, but in a formula that better aligns with a healthier-home approach. It is a practical alternative for anyone who wants fabric protection without relying on conventional stain-repellent chemistry.

What makes this a non-toxic fabric protector spray?

This non-toxic fabric protector spray is made for households that want everyday fabric protection without the ingredients often associated with conventional stain guards. It is made without PFAS, fragrance, VOCs, or hazardous air pollutants, which makes it a more thoughtful option for people trying to reduce unnecessary chemical exposure in the home. That can be especially appealing in spaces with kids, pets, or frequently used upholstered furniture. It is designed to help protect fabrics while supporting a healthier indoor environment.

The fabric protector also offers practical benefits beyond a cleaner ingredient profile. The spray is designed to help resist stains and dirt, block fumes from upholstery stuffing and foams, and lock in unpleasant odors. Because it dries clear and odorless, it can fit easily into everyday home care without leaving behind any scent or visible residue. For shoppers looking for a fabric protector that feels both functional and lower-tox, this one checks the important boxes.

Why is foam used in Magniflex mattresses?

Our special nontoxic water-based foam is pressure sensitive (not heat sensitive) allowing the mattress to instantly conform to your body. Each Magniflex mattress provides pressure relief, body-contouring comfort, and supportive cushioning. Magniflex uses non toxic open-cell foam designed for better airflow and more consistent performance than the lower-quality foams that often give foam a bad reputation, with OEKO-TEX 100 and CertiPUR-US® certifications for added peace of mind.

Why do some pieces have slight color or speckle variation?

That’s normal (and to be expected) with ceramics—glazes and firing temperatures can create subtle variations from piece to piece, which is part of what makes each one unique.

How do I prevent thermal shock (cracking from temperature changes)?

Avoid sudden temperature swings—let pieces warm up or cool down gradually. Don’t move ceramics straight from the freezer to a hot oven, or from a hot oven onto a cold surface.

What if something arrives damaged?

We pack everything carefully, but if something arrives damaged, reach out right away so we can help. Our Returns Policy outlines the next steps.

Are your ceramics dishwasher safe?

Yes—they’re dishwasher safe, and they’re also safe for the microwave, oven, and freezer.

Are your ceramic dishes lead-free and food-safe?

Yes—our ceramics are made without heavy metals! They are made from food-safe materials and lead-free glazes for everyday use.

Are Magniflex mattresses non-toxic and low in VOCs?

Magniflex mattresses are made with low-emission materials, so any new-mattress odor is typically minimal and fades quickly with normal ventilation. All mattresses are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and CertiPUR® certified.

Is this a good mattress for couples?

Yes—Magniflex materials are engineered to reduce motion transfer, and several models are built to balance comfort and support so both sleepers can rest well.

Do I need a box spring, or can it go on a platform bed?

You don’t need a box spring—these mattresses work great on a solid platform bed, slatted base, or foundation as long as it provides sturdy, even support. They’re also compatible with adjustable bases.

Do you offer a sleep trial or returns/exchanges?

We offer a sleep trial and flexible return/exchange options—check the product page or our Returns Policy for the exact trial length and eligibility details.

Is this a good mattress for back pain or spine support?

Yes—Magniflex mattresses are designed with ergonomic support layers that help keep your spine aligned while relieving pressure in common stress areas like the hips and shoulders.

What are the Magniflex mattress dimensions?

  • (L x W) Twin: 75" × 38"

  • Twin XL: 80" × 38"

  • Full: 75" × 54"

  • Queen: 80" × 60"

What are exempt VOCs? Does HH paint contain them?

Exempt VOCs are harmful VOCs that are still allowed to be included in low VOC and no VOC paint. Healthier Homes paints is unique, as our formulas do NOT contain exempt VOCs. So you can paint with peace of mind!

What does VOC mean for paint? Is your paint low or no VOC?

We formulated all Healthier Homes paints and coatings to cure zero VOC and free from HAPs (Hazardous Air Pollutants). Here's why... In most commercial paint on the market, VOCs act as solvents, helping the paint apply smoothly and dry quickly. However, as the paint dries, these compounds evaporate, which is why freshly painted rooms often have that strong "paint smell." Even long after the paint has cured, the solvents in most house paints will continue to offgas into the air for a very long time, some for many years. VOCs are also added during the manufacturing process, because these chemicals are readily available and cheaper, which lower the cost to manufacture the paint and increase the paint's shelf life. But what may seem like the cheaper option to purchase off the shelf in the paint section may very well may have expensive health consequences over the long-term. While VOCs may help to improve how cheaper paint works and to prolong its shelf life, these chemicals can be harmful to your health if inhaled. Especially over the course of time at low levels, which is exactly what happens with chronic exposure inside a home or office building. More information on VOCs can be found here in our blog article about VOCs.

How much paint should I order for my project?

Most of our paints and primers cover approx 350 square feet of surface per coat of paint. Check the applications section on the product page to see how many coats are recommended and what the approximate coverage per product.
