Coverage: One gallon covers approximately 350 square feet per coat, depending on surface porosity.
Application: Mix the kit contents, part A with part B. This is equal to mixing 11 ounces of activator part B, to one gallon of part A.
Apply multiple thin coats in a warm (>50F) and dry area. Brush, spray or roll. Allow to dry between coats. We recommend two coats for best results, and 3 coats for very porous surfaces.
Note! It's best to only mix what you think you need. After mixing, there is a 24 hour pot life… After 24 hours, more activator Part B (the smaller of the two containers) can be added at the mix ratio of 11:1 to reactivate the pot.
For use on:
- furniture, wood cabinets, woodwork and décor
- interior concrete flooring and wood flooring
- exterior concrete surfaces like pavers, concrete, stucco and walkways
- exterior wood surfaces like patios, wood beams and wood accents
- as a top coat for Healthier Homes paints to make them durable enough for flooring applications
- over metal, aluminum and steel
- always spot test if applying to a previously finished surface
Surface prep: Wood surfaces should be sanded and free of dirt, grease, mildew, soap, mill scale and oil. Before application, clean with pressurized air and/or plant-based cleaner such as Healthier Clean All Purpose Cleaner. Avoid using tac rags, as most contain solvents.
Concrete surfaces and concrete floors should be cured (min of 28 days) before heavy foot traffic and remain clean / free from oil, grease and dust. Light footraffic is fine after 12 hours... Before application, it is recommended to test the floor for vapor drive in accordance with ASTM D4263. Mechanical profiling is preferred to remove any coatings and texturize to a medium grit sandpaper texture. Acid etching may also be used to prep bare concrete floors to the proper profile.
Application details: Apply to a test area first to ensure proper adhesion. This product is sensitive to cold temperatures and humidity during application and may interfere with proper curing. Only apply Healthier Homes Clear Coat Professional when the temperature is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity levels are not high.
Before using, mix well by gently rolling container to avoid air bubbles. Stir product every 20 minutes during application. For best results, apply at least two thin coats, letting the surface dry between coats.
For rollers, use a ¼” or 3/8” nap roller cover.
Do not use paint thinners.
We do not recommend thinning this specific product with water.
Spraying specs: Use an airless sprayer and painter's masks to avoid accidental inhalation. A 311 spray tip works best. Remove the internal filters from the spray machine prior to application. For best coverage, spray 18" from surface.
Dry Time and Recoating Details: Let each coat dry in an HVAC conditioned space or in dry conditions above 55°F for 24 hours.
Each coat dries within 30 minutes and can be recoated in 4 hours. Ready for use in 12 hours. Drying time will vary with weather conditions, air circulation and temperature. Thick application, high humidity, or conditions other than normal may cause urethane to dry slower and/or cure improperly.
Cleanup + Disposal: Clean equipment while still wet. For best results, use a solution of Healthier Clean and warm water… No special disposal requirements. For disposal, leave the lids off so that unused product hardens. Dispose of it in your normal garbage.
